Feeding a Toodler is FUN!...meh!

(Me: Thinking ahead of what the future holds for my dear son)

Setting: Mrs. Smith's grade 6 class at lunch time

Dear son: "Mrs. Smith, can you help me with my lunch?"
Mrs. Smith: "Yes dear, what can I do?"
Dear son: "Can you please chop up my food into little, little pieces and can you puree my meat and yams too.  Then can you heat up my ba-ba for me, I prefer about 35 seconds please, 40 seconds is just way too much!"
Mrs. Smith: (puzzled) "Sure dear"
(Mrs. Smith brings the food to the table)
(3 seconds later...)
Dear son: "ALL DONE!" (Throws food on the floor)

The end!

My child has a fondness for throwing food. We dish his food on his nice colourful plate, place it on his tray, and a bite or two and a few moments later, it is all over the floor. Oh how my patience are being tested.

Let me also point out that he is going to be 2 years old and he still prefers purred food over solid food. (See how my future thought makes sense now!)

He won't take a sippy cup, we have about 6 different ones, he just pretends to drink out of it and puts it down. Every single time. Don't think we haven't tried, we try....all...the....time!

I honestly don't know how he is growing! He is my petite treat for sure!

Well if any of you have tips, please let me know.

Throwing food tips (though my favorite suggestion was to throw it back, ha!)

I sure hope that my future thought doesn't come true :)

A camping we will go!

Summer to do list:
Camping with awesome friends

We are leaving for camping this evening, up to the beautiful Cowichan Lake area with some great friends, big ones and small ones. This is our 2nd annual adventure!

Why I love camping:
- The smell of campfire
- Relaxing in my camping chair
- Rocking my camping sweater (photo to come) :)
- Going for walks
- Playing games
- Eating mostly edible food items
- Not caring what I look like...except for when certain friends uber talented hubbies take photos of you in HD and later post on FB
- Roasting anything, again mostly edible items, over an open flame
- Smelling the sweet smell of a camper's body odour
- Bathing in a lake
- Rolling over in the middle of the night to find a leak has sprung in the mattress that you just bought and you are now sleeping on rocks
- Going to bed in every single item you packed because the nights are colder than you remembered
- Waking up about an hour later realizing you over did it and it isn't that bad
- Putting your little one to sleep, knowing that the walls of the tent are NOT sound proof and now the entire campsite can here him letting you know it is NOT bedtime yet!
- Spending time with great friends and making some amazing memories!

Will definitely post pictures when we return!

This is bad for you....but here, let me serve you up some!

"If it’s not in the house you will not eat it! Do not buy junk food and tempt yourself."

I have noticed lately that when we have company, mainly when hubby has company, we rush out to buy frozen pizza, chips and pop. We make sure we have some tasty treats for the boys. Typically we do not have these items on hand. We don't put them on our weekly shopping list, nor do we think to add them to our meal plans, so why do we go out and get them so we can serve them to our friends?

Since the beginning of the year we have been trying to make sure we are aware of our eating habits. My dear hubby has managed to keep 50 lbs off over the past year and I have managed to drop about 25 since the new year. We are working hard to get our shape in shape, so that we are a healthy family.

Well this week, like every week, friends came over, treats were bought and treats were served, all the way to the last crumb. Then it hit me...BAM! Yes like Emeril...BAM! Why the heck am I feeding our friends food we wouldn't buy for ourselves. Cause we are lazy? cause we know they will eat it? cause we don't care? I think it is because it's simple and easy. So, I have decided to change things up a little. I told my dear welder hubby that I will make healthy meal options for the guys, I will chop, cook, serve whatever they want, but will no longer provide them with those 'junk' food options.

It also needs to be a rule for me for when I go to a friends house and bring food items. I am bringing items into THEIR homes, and I should make smart choices, cause I am not only tempting myself to eat unhealthy items, but I am tempting my friends.

Overall, I think we need to be aware of the foods we are surrounding ourselves with, making smart choices of what to bring in the home will only help you make the smart choices when it comes to snack/meal time!

Toodle-loo

Positive thought for today (PTF): I am happy for my perfectly ripe nectarines from the store! :)

aaahheeeemmmm....can you hear me?

Well, I have decided it is time for a new blog. For some reason, I am feeling a little anxious about starting up. Like a fear of commitment or soemthing...hmmm... Over the past few years I have grown quite a bit and feel that I have also changed quite a bit too, soooo, I thought, why not start up fresh in a new blog and share a little somethin', somethin' with you folks, why you ask? Cause I am NEAT!

I feel like these last few months I have tug on the ol' brain strings to start something, try new things, challenge myself and see where the adventure leads.

This little page of mine will be for me to share with you folk, all about the different paths I go down, and I hope that through sharing, opening up, and welcoming you into my little life that I can be a little light in someones life and just make you smile :)

Enjoy!
